AdFed Suncoast selects judges for the American Advertising Awards

THE AMERICAN ADVERTISING AWARDS
 

Their rooms are reserved. The flights are booked. Each year, we at AdFed Suncoast select three judges from outside the region we serve, so there's no familiarity and no bias with the work they come to critique. We find our judges with the help of AAF National and District networking databases. ADDY submissions are due January 18th, after which we prepare the entries for the eyes (and ears) of the judges. They arrive at the judging location on January 26th for a day-long review and scoring process. If you are a current member and would like to volunteer on judging day, please contact us.

Valerie Wagner
Senior VP, Creative Director

At GSW New York, Valerie brings her passion for grounding ideas in strategy, executing beautifully, building and inspiring teams, leading authentically, and thinking big-picture while keeping an eye on the details. For the past 12 years Valerie has been conceiving and launching national and global campaigns for clients such as AstraZeneca, Bayer, Celgene, Gilead, Novartis, and Pfizer.

Prior to entering the world of advertising, Valerie had a very different career trajectory, designing album covers for artists ranging from Mick Jagger to Matchbox 20 to Rihanna. Her love of music and design began at age 5, when she would model for the covers of her grandfather's polka albums. 

A graduate of the School of Visual Arts, Valerie loves all things art and culture, and is an avid reader, yoga student, and passionate about travel.

Jim Clark
Owner, Clark & Company

For over 27 years Jim Clark has been a creative director that is dedicated to seeing his clients succeed. As an agency owner of Clark & Company, Jim provides creative services from business and marketing planning, to comprehensive and integrated creative solutions. He works with his clients on everything from strategy, concept and execution of traditional and interactive media to business and marketing strategy consultation. Jim has been honored with many awards: 2016 Jack Philipps Gold Medal (The highest honor bestowed by the AAF 4th District. It is presented in recognition of outstanding contributions to advertising and furthering the industry’s standards, creative excellence and public service). 1995 AAF Silver Medal Award Winner for Outstanding Advertising Achievement and over 100 Addys (American Advertising Awards). He currently serves for American Advertising Federation - 4th District as Historian and was the founding President of the Emerald Coast Advertising Federation in 1992. Jim has served as a AAF ADDY Judge since 1995 judging throughout the United States.

Identified as a dreamer, a romantic, and a creative genius by many, Jim holds a passion for technology and for helping others any way he can.

Hector Del Valle-Sosa
Art Director, Liquid Creative
Gainesville, FL

Since beginning his graphic design career ten years ago, Hector Del Valle’s award-winning work has creatively captured the character of Alachua County businesses spanning the consumer and B2B industries. He received his bachelor’s degree in marketing from the University of Florida and his graphic design degree from Santa Fe College. At Liquid Creative, Del Valle uses his artistic eye to oversee design production. He has served as AAF Gainesville President for two terms and is a past AAF D4 Addy Chair. When Hector isn’t creating compelling brands, you can find him at a local brewery with his husband Derek or running around with their dogs Jackson and Oso.
